How to make Kissabel apple compote

Kissabel apples with their vibrant pink flesh have landed in November's fruit box! Here's how to make a delicious apple compote - the perfect topping to your porridge on a cold morning. You'll thank us later.

What you need

  • 5-6 apples
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 5 tsp of nut meg
  • 1 x star anise
  • 50g vegan butter
  • 50g coconut sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornflour

Method

  1. Cube your apples into 1cm (peel optional).
  2. Place into a pan with the butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, star anise, 100ml of water and simmer for 30 mins on a medium-high heat.
  3. Dissolve the cornflour in 1tbsp of water and stir into the compote and cook for 4 mins until it thickens.
  4. Spoon over porridge for a delicious, healthy breakfast. Enjoy!
