Food waste facts

By Olivia Parker

Did you know that 1/3 of all food produced globally (about 1.3 billion tonnes) is wasted every year? Food wastage is responsible for over 7% of greenhouse gas emissions and 20% of landfill.

According to WRAP, in 2015 we wasted over 7.3 million tonnes of food in the UK. That works out at about 112 kg of food wasted by every single one of us. That’s an awful lot of food to be wasting each year, made worse by the fact that there are so many people not fortunate enough to have access to food every day.

Recipe boxes are great because:

  • They eliminate food waste completely
  • You’re sent all of the ingredients pre-portioned - no leftovers you forget to eat and end up throwing out
  • They can help save you money - you won’t buy unnecessary extra ingredients

We are extremely proud of the work we do to reduce food waste and have heard first hand the positive experiences our customers have had reducing their own food waste. It may only be a small step but it seems to be one in the right direction.

Our next big goal is to reduce our reliance on plastic packaging and create a circular economy of packaging.
