Celebrating 5 years of Mindful Chef

May 29, 2020

Mindful Chef was born in the summer of 2014 while working on a friend’s fishing boat, the Compass Rose, off the East Devon Coast. As we watched local fisherman sell their fresh fish to villagers on the very day it was caught, it opened our eyes to how food should be enjoyed: fresh, sustainable and most importantly, delicious.

From that moment we set out on a mission to make Healthy Eating Easy across the nation. Thank you for your support – none of this would be possible without you.

APRIL 2015

We hand-deliver our first meals to family and friends (thanks Mum and Dad!)

DECEMBER 2015

Our incredible talented Chef Louisa joins our small team – at this point, we’re working from our apartment (holding meeting in the bedroom!) and delivering all boxes ourselves in our own little van.

JULY 2016

Sir Andy Murray and Olympian Victoria Pendleton CBE invest in the business alongside 189 others, as part of our first crowdfunding campaign where we raise £1 million in one week! Check out our crowdfunding video below…

JANUARY 2016

We’re the first recipe box in the UK to launch vegan recipe boxes, just in time for #veganuary.

MARCH 2017

We launch our first cookbook ‘Mindful Chef: Eat Well Live Better‘ with Penguin. The Independent crowns it ‘The No. 1 Healthy Eating Cookery Book of 2017’

SEPTEMBER 2017

We partner with the charity One Feeds Two, so that for every meal you enjoy, we donate a meal to a schoolchild living in poverty. Watch our latest video below to see the life-changing impact of your donations.

SEPTEMBER 2018

After months of assessment, Mindful Chef becomes a certified B Corp (or ‘better’ corporation) putting people and the planet first in everything we do.

NOVEMBER 2018

Our #ReverseAdventCalender initiative begins. Every December fill up your empty Mindful Chef box with food donations, send it back to us and we’ll give it to those who need it most.

FEBRUARY 2019

15-minute meals launch to make healthy eating even easier. Check out next weeks menu.

APRIL 2019

Our first 4 healthy frozen meals launch – we now have 20 delicious options in our range, from Lentil dahl to Chicken tikka and other ready meals for one, all ready in less than 8 minutes! Available at shop.mindfulchef.com

JULY 2019

We expand our operations to offer nationwide delivery 7 days a week!

And our first ever #MCCoastClean is a success. Over 1,000 of our community come together across 121 beaches to collect more than 12,500L of plastic rubbish. Read more about it here.

NOVEMBER 2019

Our new and improved Family range hits the menu.

Plus we publish our first sustainability report and pledge to remove single-use plastic from our boxes by 2021. See the full report here.

FEBRUARY 2020

We pass 2 million school meals donated to children living in poverty through One Feeds Two. That’s the equivalent to feeding 10,000 children for an entire academic year. See our Q&A with One Feeds Two Founder Owen here.

MARCH 2020

We hit a milestone: 5 million meals delivered, just in time for our 5th birthday. Wahoo!

May 2020

We’ve delivered over 100,000 discounted meals to NHS staff working on the frontline.

And with your help, we’ve now donated over 3 million meals to children living in poverty! Here’s to reaching our goal of 5 million in 2020.
