Mindful Chef's Diversity & Inclusion Policy

Diversity & Inclusion at Mindful Chef

At Mindful Chef, we believe that Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) make us stronger.

As a Certified B Corp, we are committed to using business as a force for good and to considering the impact of our decisions on our people, communities and wider society. Our commitment to diversity and inclusion is an important part of this responsibility.

We value the different backgrounds, identities, experiences and perspectives that each of us bring, and believe that a diverse team helps us create a stronger, more innovative and more empathetic workplace.

We are committed to creating an environment where everyone has a fair opportunity to contribute, develop and thrive. We actively challenge bias, stereotypes and barriers to inclusion, and recognise that we all have a role to play in creating a culture where people can be mindful, connected and unafraid!

Our Commitment to Equal Opportunities

Diversity and inclusion is not a project with an end date. It is an ongoing journey. We strive to listen, learn, challenge ourselves and take action to create a workplace where everyone can feel they belong.

We have a dedicated Equal Opportunities policy, and further support our people through flexible working arrangements, individual L&D allowance, and mental health support, helping to create an environment where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Our commitment applies regardless of characteristics including ethnicity, religion or belief, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, neurodiversity, socioeconomic background, pregnancy or parental status, or any other characteristic protected by law.

Our Focus

We believe in “Doing Less, Better”. Rather than trying to tackle everything at once, we focus our energy on areas where we can make a meaningful difference. We regularly listen to our people through our Let's Dish survey, gathering feedback on employees' experiences, views and sense of inclusion at Mindful Chef. This feedback helps us shape our priorities, so our areas of focus may evolve over time.

Our current JEDI focus is on accessibility. Focusing on accessibility is essential to meaningful diversity and inclusion work because it helps us identify and remove barriers that may otherwise be overlooked, ensuring that everyone can participate, contribute and feel like they truly belong. It also provides a strong foundation for the wider D&I calendar consisting of three key moments throughout the year:

  • March — International Women's Day
  • June — Pride
  • October — Mental Health Day

To make these effective, we share our JEDI moments through two pillars:

  • Educate: Build understanding, allyship and confidence to discuss JEDI topics openly.
  • Celebrate: Bring the joy of diversity and inclusion to the forefront

We also continue to champion socioeconomic inclusion, inclusive language, and cultural diversity through food and celebrations throughout the year!

Our Inclusion Champs

Our Inclusion Champs network helps bring our JEDI commitments to life across Mindful Chef.

Our Champs are colleagues who champion inclusion, encourage open conversations, celebrate diversity, and help us identify practical ways to make Mindful Chef more inclusive. They provide an important employee voice, support JEDI initiatives, act as positive role models for inclusive behaviours and importantly keep diversity and inclusion visible in our day-to-day culture.

However, inclusion is not the responsibility of our Champs alone — we all have a part to play. Everyone is encouraged to contribute to an inclusive culture by listening to others, challenging bias, speaking up when something does not feel right and being open to learning.
