Cooking Instructions

The protein cooking time listed in this recipe has been updated.

As of December 2025, we’ve revised cooking times for all our proteins to reflect improved food safety guidance.

Check out the latest recommended times in our Cooking Guidelines.

Before you start

  • Pull out a large lidded frying pan, a medium saucepan, a measuring jug, a sieve & a slow cooker (if using)

Time to fry

  • Thinly slice the pepper. Dissolve the half pack of cornflour in the jug with 150ml cold water (75ml for 1 person)
  • Heat the large frying pan with 1 tsp oil on medium-high heat. Once hot, add the beef strips and pepper
  • Cook for 8 mins, until the beef is golden brown. Season with salt and pepper

Simmer simmer

  • Add the hoisin, honey, tamari and cornflour mixture to the pan. Bring to a boil, then transfer to your slow cooker. Cook on low for 4-5 hours
  • If using the hob, pop a lid on the pan, lower the heat and simmer for 18-20 mins, until cooked through and tender

Boil the noodles

  • When the beef has 10 mins remaining, bring the medium saucepan filled with salted water to a boil. Trim the broccoli and cut into thirds
  • Once boiling, add the noodles and broccoli to the water. Gently separate the noodles with a fork and boil for 3-4 mins, until cooked. Drain, then rinse under cold water

Last bits & plate up

  • Check your meat is cooked through; it should be golden brown, steaming hot, the juices should run clear when cut and there should be no pink / rare meat inside
  • Add the noodles and broccoli to the beef. Toss to coat in the sauce and cook for 3-4 mins, until piping hot
  • Share the noodles between bowls. Sprinkle over the sesame seeds and chilli flakes
