Cooking Instructions

The protein cooking time listed in this recipe has been updated.

As of December 2025, we’ve revised cooking times for all our proteins to reflect improved food safety guidance.

Check out the latest recommended times in our Cooking Guidelines.

  1. Boil the kettle. Heat a large saucepan filled with salted boiling water on a high heat. Add the rice and boil for 25-30 mins, until cooked, then drain and rinse under cold water.
  2. Peel and grate the carrots. Thinly slice the cabbage. Roughly chop the spinach. Place all in a mixing bowl with the cooked rice, half the sesame oil, zest of a half a lime and the juice of both. Season with sea salt and mix well.
  3. Heat a large frying pan with the remaining sesame oil on a high heat. When the pan is hot, add the pork strips and cook for 2-3 mins until golden. Add the garlic and ginger, cook for 30 secs then add the tamari, tomato paste and honey. Cook for 1 minute until sauce becomes sticky.
  4. Serve the salad into bowls, place the pork on top and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
