Honey Hoisin Beef Noodles with Stir Fried Veg & Sesame Seeds

This comforting noodle dish comes together in the slow cooker, making it the perfect options for busy days. Starring melt-in-your-mouth British beef, vibrant peppers and a more-ish hoisin and honey sauce. Toss through brown-rice noodles and crunchy broccoli to complete the dish. But don't worry, if you don't want to slow cook you can still cook this recipe on the hob in under 30 minutes!

Before you start

  • Pull out a large lidded frying pan, a slow cooker (if using), a large saucepan, a measuring jug & a sieve

Time to fry

  • Thinly slice the peppers and onion. Dissolve the cornflour in the jug with 300ml cold water
  • Heat the large frying pan with 2 tsp oil on high heat. Once hot, add the beef, onion and pepper, then cook for 3 mins, until browned. Season with salt and pepper

Slow cook the beef

  • Add the hoisin, ginger & garlic paste, honey, tamari and cornflour mixture to the pan. Bring to the boil, then transfer to your slow cooker. Cook on low for 4-5 hours
  • If using the hob, pop a lid on the pan, lower the heat and simmer for 18-20 mins, until cooked through and tender

Time to noodle

  • When the beef has 10 mins remaining, bring the large saucepan filled with salted water to a boil
  • Cut the broccoli into small florets
  • Add the noodles and broccoli to the boiling water. Gently separate with a fork and boil for 6-7 mins, until cooked. Drain, then rinse under cold water

Last bits & plate up

  • Check your meat is cooked through; it should be golden brown, steaming hot, the juices should run clear when cut and there should be no pink / rare meat inside
  • Add the noodles and broccoli to the beef. Toss to coat in the sauce and cook for 1-2 mins, until piping hot
  • Share the noodles between bowls. Sprinkle over the sesame seeds
