Korean steak bibimbap

Our take on the famed Korean rice bowl is quick and healthy. We char grass-fed steak and slice, then fan over a medley of brown rice, pak choi and carrot. To finish: an oozy fried egg.

Cooking Instructions

The protein cooking time listed in this recipe has been updated.

As of December 2025, we've revised cooking times for all our proteins to reflect improved food safety guidance.

Check out the latest recommended times in our Cooking Guidelines.

  1. Heat a large non-stick pan with 1/2 tbsp oil on a medium heat.
  2. Season the steaks on both sides with sea salt and black pepper. Add to the pan and cook until golden brown, 2-3 mins on each side for medium-rare or 4-5 mins on each side for well-done. Once half-cooked, push the steaks to one side of the pan, turn the heat down and add the eggs to cook. Remove the steaks from the pan and leave to rest on a plate before slicing.
  3. Meanwhile, heat a large non-stick pan with 1/2 tbsp oil on a medium heat. Slice the end off the pak choi to separate the leaves. Add the pak choi to the pan, cook for 1 minute, then add the rice and cook for a further 3 mins. Meanwhile, peel and grate the carrots. Once the rice is heated through, add the grated the carrot and mix thoroughly.
  4. To serve, divide the rice between two warm plates. Top with sliced steak and fried egg. Garnish with the kimchi and furikake.
