Healthy slow cooker recipes for cold autumn evenings

By Valeria Pinasco

Hello autumn and the crisp mornings and darker evenings it brings with it. The change in season can leave us craving meals that feel warm and nourishing. This is where the slow cooker becomes your greatest kitchen ally for easy, healthy dinners.

Think tender meat falling apart in a rich ragu, vibrant vegetables bubbling away in comforting stews and fragrant spices infusing creamy curries. Slow cooking is made for this time of year, transforming simple ingredients into comforting, flavour-packed meals to cosy up to on a chilly evening.

How can the slow cooker save me time?

What’s great about slow cookers is that you can get a delicious meal on the table with a fraction of the work, making busy weeknights that much easier. Just add your ingredients to your slow cooker, switch it on and let the gentle heat do the work while you get on with your day. Then, when the evening rolls around, all that's left to do is a couple finishing touches: boiling some rice or pasta to serve on the side or scattering a garnish of fresh herbs, nuts or breadcrumbs over the top. Then you’re ready to dish up.

What if I don’t have a slow cooker?

If you don’t happen to have a slow cooker but still crave that same comfort, don’t worry: we’ve got you covered. Every recipe in our slow cooker range offers alternative instruction for cooking on the hob, so you can still enjoy these autumn favourites in 35 mins or less.
