Fearne Cotton shares her 4 lockdown learnings

By Olivia Parker

As part of our mission to make healthy eating easy, we have an army of ambassadors who empower others to lead healthier lives. From Olympic athletes to nutritionists, they’re good friends who not only spread the word about Mindful Chef but inspire us on a daily basis too.

Enter the lovely Fearne Cotton. Mostly known for her impressive broadcasting career in TV and radio, she’s since become a leading voice in the wellness movement with multiple books on cookery and self-care, as well as her #1 ranked podcast The Happy Place.

Check out this podcast episode we recorded with her recently.

Fearne’s also a busy mum who shares the ups and downs of juggling the work-life balance. We caught up with her at this unusual time to find out what she’s learnt during lockdown. We hope you too can take away something positive from these past few weeks.

“Carving out time for myself is integral”

As impossible as it seems, I’ve found a quick home workout at the start of the day helps clear my head. Also getting into bed to read a good book has become a total treat after a busy day with the kids.

“Home-schooling is pretty hard!”

Any creative activities the kids can do to replace a more traditional approach to education has been a life-saver. Art and cooking have become our family favourites. We love that with Mindful Chef we’re all learning new family recipes and trying out new ingredients together.

“As a family, we’re trying to keep as active as possible."

We’re lucky to have a garden so we’ve been making obstacle courses for them to keep active. Jesse and I use FIIT to do our daily workouts of yoga but I think it’s all about tuning into your body and finding what you love - this goes for post-lockdown too!

“Being more community-minded”

Recently we’ve been checking in on our next-door neighbour who is elderly, making sure he has enough food and helping with shopping. It made us question why we hadn’t done this before. I hope people being more community-minded is something that continues.
