Manchester knows how to brunch. Whether it’s a classic avo’ on toast you’re after, or a veggie packed fry up, you’ll find it among the many cafes, diners and restaurants of our favourite Northern city. To help you on your breakfast quest, we’ve rounded up the best healthy brunch spots in Manchester.
1. Ezra and Gil
Why we love it:
With its expanse of exposed brick, cosy furnishings and plenty of natural light, Ezra and Gil nails that all-important brunch vibe. And we haven’t even started on the food. With an all-day brunch menu featuring green omelettes, chia breakfast bowls, and a whole host of smoked salmon and avocado combos, this Northern Quarter gem checks off all our health brunch boxes.
Best for: Big groups. This big and beautiful space is perfect for larger parties looking for a relaxed weekend brunch.
20 Hilton St, Northern Quarter, Manchester M1
2. Evelyn’s Cafe & Bar
Why we love it:
Evelyn’s pared back brunch menu reflects its dedication to simple ingredients and bold flavours. Here you’ll find gorgeous vegan plum and hazelnut porridge, blueberry and beet smoothie bowls and homemade granola topped with soya yoghurt.
Best for: Evelyn’s focus on plant-based brekkies make it perfect for vegans, or those looking for dairy-free options in the city. Meanwhile, its bustling atmosphere make it a great spot for a lively weekend brunch, especially as they add more dishes on a Sunday, including their egg-topped green bowl.
G18 Tib St, Manchester M4
3. Fig and Sparrow
We we love it: At Fig + Sparrow, everything is sourced from local, independent suppliers; from the artwork on the walls, to the food on your plate. Half shop/half cafe, this brunch spot is all about creativity, community, and delicious local food. With an all-day breakfast menu featuring organic porridge, and plenty of gluten-free toast options (their artisan rye bread is to die for), this is the place for an honest breakfast done right.
Best for: A creative brunch. This is the kind of place you can whip out your laptop, notebook or sketchbook and be in very good company.
20 Oldham St, Northern Quarter, M1 1JA
4. The Koffee Pot
Why we love it: With a reputation for having the heartiest (and arguably most delicious) breakfasts in Manchester, the Koffee Pot might not seem like your first choice for a healthy brunch. But among the fry ups and deli-style sandwiches, there are some really nutritious gems. Why not try the Manx kippers served with poached eggs, Shakshouka topped with pistachio dukkah, or their vegan Full English.
Best for: The morning after the night before. If you’re in need of some hearty comfort food, this is the only place for you.
84-86 Oldham St, Northern Quarter, M4
5. Federal
Why we love it: Federal brings some much-needed antipodean sunshine to the Manchester breakfast scene. Serving an all-day brunch menu that’s hot on berries, greens, whole grains and eggs, this Australian-inspired cafe features all the usual standards. But our favourite has to be the Insta-worthy acai bowl served alongside an artisan Ozone coffee. Sunday brunchin’ doesn’t get much better than that.
Best for: Everyone. Seriously, with a menu as diverse and delicious as this one, everyone’s invited.
