The results are in from our Reverse Advent Calendar | Mindful Chef

December 20, 2018

Thank you to everyone who took part in our Reverse Advent Calendar this December. We set up this initiative to encourage customers to give back and donate food to those in need at Christmas. Scroll down to the video to find out how we got on.

The first hundred boxes have already arrived at our distribution centre

The concept was simple, customers added one item of non-perishable food to an empty Mindful Chef box each day this December, then returned them to us for free. These donations will be collected by City Harvest.

We are thrilled to announce that we have already received over 100 boxes and counting and are confident we will surpass our target of 250 boxes: that’s 5,000 food items donated! Check out this video of Co-founders Myles and Giles at our distribution centre sorting through the initial donations.

This food will be distributed by the charity City Harvest, who provide support to 240 organisations that feed London’s most vulnerable people from homeless shelters to after-school programs. Check out the impact City Harvest are having here.

A huge thank you from Mindful Chef Co-founders Myles and Giles to everyone who got involved for their generosity and support.

If you didn’t take part, it’s not too late to make a difference. We would love to encourage more people to donate excess food to their local food bank where possible. Whilst there is a sharp increase in demand for emergency food at this time of the year, it is an ongoing struggle for many people in the UK, with 1 in 5 of the population living below the poverty line.

Find your local food bank here.
