…And that’s a wrap! Thank you to the hundreds of you who joined the #MCCoastClean on September 14th. Read on to find out more about how our community is tackling plastic pollution.
Here’s the weekend in numbers:
🌊 Over 121 beaches
👫 Over 1,050 people took part
♻️ More than 12,500L of rubbish collected (the equivalent of 25,000 plastic bottles)
One big community coming together as a force for good!
Team Mindful Chef
On Saturday 14th the #MCCoastClean took place on over 121 beaches across the country and further afield. Founders Myles and Giles headed back home to Devon to take part on beaches where they grew up. First up was Exmouth beach where we were joined by the largest community college in the country.
We then headed to Giles’ hometown of Sidmouth where we were overwhelmed by the involvement from local residents and businesses in a bid to clear their beach from plastic. We even enjoyed a paddle-board session thanks to Jurassic Paddle Sports with fellow MC’ers afterwards!
Around the country…
Tentsmuir, Scotland
Grimsby
Gaddings Dam: the UK’s highest beach
The Thames, Barnes Bridge
WestGate Beach
Eastbourne
Viking Bay, Broadstairs Town Team
Mar Menor, Spain
Two members of the MC Team Olivia and Heidi were on a family holiday in Mar Menor, Spain when it was hit by the worst storm in over 140 years. There was an enormous amount of debris washed up on coast, so they managed to fill an entire truck with over 11 bags of rubbish in just over an hour.
What’s next…
The overall response has been incredible and it shows the impact we can achieve when we all come together. If you weren’t able to join us on the day don’t worry, our next community event – our annual Reverse Advent Calendar – is kicking off soon. Follow us on Instagram, Facebook or join our closed community group for updated.
