Farm to fork: being mindful of the whole process

January 28, 2026

Food isn’t just fuel, it’s fundamental to everyday mindfulness. Taking time to consider how you shop, cook and eat can lead to making more ethical choices as it allows you to reconnect with your plate’s journey, from farm to fork. It can also help to reduce food waste and ensure you’re putting the best ingredients in your body.

Reclaiming and understanding the core meaning of mindfulness is important to us. For us, it’s all about the opportunity to switch off, channel your inner cook and enjoy food that’s not only been mindfully sourced and prepared, but also been mindfully cooked and plated by you.

Food can be a cornerstone of everyday mindfulness

Jesse Kempner, our Head of Food, believes that mindful cooking and eating starts before you even get to the kitchen. “Understanding where your food comes from and being more aware of how your choices impact the wider food system is fundamental to living more mindfully,” she says. “Being more mindful of the whole process, and considering how you choose to shop, cook and eat, naturally leads to making more ethical choices.”

“Take a step back from rushing meals and reconnect with the whole process, from cooking to enjoyment. Cooking from scratch may feel like more effort than a takeaway, for example, but being aware of what’s going into your meal can help us avoid artificial ingredients and highly processed foods. Plus it brings a sense of satisfaction when you eat it.”

Our 2025 Impact Report is live

We’re dedicated to improving the entire farm to fork lifecycle, which is why we’re proud to share our 2025 Impact Report this week. We believe when we all unite for good, we can make lasting, positive change. Thank you for being part of this movement, advocating for a food system that puts community first. Here are some of our big wins:

We’ve now donated over 20 million hot school meals

Your support makes a difference: thanks to you, we’ve donated over 20 million hot school meals to children living in poverty, through our incredible partners One Feeds Two.

Over 97,291 tonnes of food donated to The Felix Project

This year alone, we’ve donated over 97 tonnes of food (the equivalent of 149,000 meals!) to those in need through The Felix Project, London’s largest food distribution charity.

Every December, we turn the traditional advent calendar on its head with our Reverse Advent Calendar. From 1st-20th December, we encourage our community to fill their Mindful Chef box with a non-perishable food item, then send it directly to The Felix Project, free of charge. We make up the remaining four days’ worth of food.

“The year round support we receive from Mindful Chef is incredible and the reverse advent makes such a difference, giving our recipients much-needed long-life ambient food at a crucial time of the year.” Richard, Head of Food Supply at The Felix Project.

51% less food waste through the entire lifecycle than the supermarket equivalent

94% of our packaging could be recycled

Plus…

  • 1,043,293 low-carbon meals delivered this year
  • Emissions fell by 4% between 2023 and 2024
  • 21% less CO2e per serving than the supermarket equivalent
  • 54% less CO2e vs travelling to the supermarket
  • 73,609 kg of CO2 saved through e-deliveries

That’s the equivalent of a Boeing 747 flying over 3,000 miles!
