Eggs are a good source of high-quality protein, vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats. However, you might have heard people talk about their cholesterol content, so let’s get cracking (‘scuse pun) to unscramble (we’re sorry) the ‘are eggs unhealthy’ myth.
Eggs are a good source of several essential vitamins and minerals, including vitamin D, vitamin B12, choline, and selenium. These nutrients play important roles in various bodily functions, including bone health, brain function, and immune function.
One large egg also contains approximately 186 milligrams of cholesterol, which is found in the yolk and studies have shown that consuming eggs as part of a healthy diet does not increase the risk of heart disease in most people. In fact, eggs can be beneficial for heart health due to their high levels of protein and healthy fats.
The way you cook your eggs matters. For maximum health, you’re not going to get the same benefits from frying eggs in oil, or scrambling them in butter, because that adds extra calories and saturated fat. Think boiled (make ours with asparagus dippers!) or poached to bring more benefits to your plate.
They’re also supremely tasty. Our brunch special Eggs Royale with sustainably sourced salmon is easy and delicious, you can take a dip (we can’t resist) into Chicken Egg Drop Soup, indulge in a fakeaway of Sesame chicken with egg-fried rice, to the ultimate steak, egg and chips.
We think the occasional egg is healthy. In fact, it’s eggscellent.
